Averyl
Averyl was born in the Philippines. When he was two years old his family moved to Southern California. He grew up with his mom and his two brothers. Education growing up was different for Averyl. He was diagnosed with an intellectual disability and was in special education. Even though school was challenging for him, he received a lot of support to succeed in his education. Without the support, he would not have graduated with his high school diploma.
In 2016, Averyl moved to West Los Angeles for the Pathway program at UCLA Extension, where he received support to help build confidence in his independence. At Pathway, he also developed valuable career skills. He then went to Santa Monica College to pursue his associate’s and received his degree in Early Childhood Education in 2022. He was motivated by receiving a lot of support throughout his life. This made Averyl grow in his passion for helping others and decided to pursue a career working with children.
In 2021, Averyl gained experience with children through Pamper & Play, where he supervised and supported the children. In 2022, Averyl worked at STAR Education as an after schoolteacher, where he created and implemented his own lesson plans. Averyl now works as an overnight staff for Level Up Solutions in support of the Pathway program he once attended as a student.
Outside of work, Averyl likes to hang out with his friends and enjoys going out to eat and playing sports. He is involved in his local church community and volunteers with the youth group every weekend.
