Kaelyn
Kaelyn was born and raised in San Francisco, California, but spent parts of her childhood living in Taiwan and New York. As the oldest sibling in a household with several physical and neurodevelopmental diagnoses, Kaelyn took on a caretaker and advocacy role from a young age. These early experiences sparked her passion for forming interpersonal connections and helping others. In high school, she encouraged these community values among her peers through student-led service projects and mental health campaigns. In her spare time, she volunteered at a local nursery school and a bilingual tutoring center. These experiences fueled her dedication to supporting others and promoting resilience.
Currently a junior at UCLA, Kaelyn is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Asian American Studies. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she has explored various social science disciplines, drawing from them to inform her understanding of school-based interventions and her goal of empowering neurodiverse youth to realize their full potential.
Kaelyn is an active member of the UCLA Dragon Boat team and regularly volunteers with Bruins for Accessible Education. She is also deeply involved in research as a behavioral coach and research assistant at both the Anxiety and Depression Research Center (ADRC) and UCLA's Treatment and Research for the Underserved with Stress and Trauma (TRUST) Lab. Outside of school, Kaelyn is engaged with Changing Tides, a Little Tokyo Service Center program, where she helps serve local communities and works to destigmatize mental health within Asian American populations.
In Winter 2025, Kaelyn joined Level Up as a Direct Support Professional, eager to expand her ability to adapt her instructional methods and support individuals from diverse backgrounds. She is committed to uplifting her participants’ voices and perspectives during periods of transition, and looks forward to forming meaningful connections. In her free time, Kaelyn enjoys exploring the Los Angeles food and coffee scene, listening to music, learning new skills (she’s currently teaching herself to play guitar), and cooking with friends.
